Was cleaning out some old hard drives and found some great pictures and videos. Way way back when Ben opened for Dashboard Confessional. The second pic I always get a laugh from with Ben in-line to his own merch. Return to Seattle and was able to film the whole show. I still have the mini DV tape someplace. Another Seattle show. Opening for Pete Yorn Always great seeing you perform brother! Shocked it has been 16 years!

I'm more a card game person. I've made up my own where you construct as many cards against each other as you can till they fall down. Start with three in a sorta triangle and then build from there till gravity attacks. Super fun, time consuming if you're clumsy. You can also make roofs/ceilings and do second stories if you're nimble. Below is a whole Uno deck:

I'm super happy that I was finally recently able to get a copy of Ben Kweller's self titled album on vinyl. With the RSD release of Sha Sha hopefully I can finish out my collection... Anyone else have a BK vinyl collection they are excited about?

I got a guitar a few years ago, an acoustic-electric, not very musically gifted but I have some fun with it. I can play the intro to Sundress.. uhh.. the middle of Full Circle with the woo woo woo.. and uhmm.. Oh My Way.. real simple chords in that one, great for beginners. The songbook in Go Fly A Kite vinyl was awesome.. please do another songbook for the next record.. heck do one of all the 'classics'!!

I haven't brought my DSLR to a show (not willing to risk that!), but here's the best pic from both shows I've been to. Lawrence University, May 14 2006 High Noon Saloon in Madison, WI: March 27 2012

I feel pretty lonely saying Changing Horses is my favorite. Sha Sha was life-changing when I first heard it. It came to me about the same time as Neutral Milk Hotel, Weezer, Ben Folds and Sufjan Stevens... It opened up a world outside of the top 40 radio. The S/T brought me back to those feelings. And my girlfriend at the time was really into On My Way (joyous High School memories!). But Changing Horses was absolutely amazing. I remember sitting in a car with friends and reading the liner notes. Something about Ben growing up in Texas (?) and being raised on country music. You can't escape your roots sometimes. Yadda yadda. I'm from Arkansas, so I can relate. My grandma took me to school every morning from 3rd to 7th grade and we'd listen to Merle, George, Conway and all the other classic "real country." Hearing Changing Horses was a revelation though. It was a blend of that "indie" music that I had come to listen to, with what I grew up on. It was a statement to me that I didn't have to be ashamed of the country music I grew up on. Not to mention the fact that it was REALLY great. Time for me to pull out CH and give it another spin! It's been too long.
